総督邸 Rector's Palace

6日もドブロヴニクに滞在したのに、文化財、美術館や教会などの観光はほとんどしていません(^ ^;) なにせ、ランチを食べてからは夕方までシエスタだったので、開館時間内に行動できる時間が限られてしまいました・・・。その限られた時間内に一応訪れたのがここ、総督邸(Knežev Dvor)。ここはドゥブロブニクが共和国として繁栄したころ、政治の中心として使われていた場所です。

We stayed in Dubrovnik for 6 days, but didn't have much time to visit cultural and heritage attractions, museums and churches, mainly because we had siesta after lunch til evening. It was really hot while the sun was high up in the sky, so it was good to have siesta, also we wanted to take photos of Dubrovnik early in the morning and night. So, in our limited time for sightseeing, we decided to visit the Rector's House  (Knežev Dvor). This palace was used as the administrative centre of Dubrovnik when the city prospered as a republic (back in time, it was called as "Ragusa Republic").





ここにはラグーサ共和国の政治機関、代表気概、小評議会が置かれただけではなく、裁判所もあったみたい。そして、権威の象徴である「総督」が住んだ場所でもあります。でも汚職や独裁に走らないように、任期はたったの1か月だった様です。しかも、その1か月間は無給だったとか・・・！金もうけのためじゃなく、国民のための政治。その精神は、今はどこへやら・・・。

The Major Council, the Minor Council, and the court were placed in this palace, also, the Dubrovnik Rector resided there. The Rector was chosen each month as a symbol of authority.  The serving term of the Rector was very short as 1 month, because it is said to avoid the Rector to seize the power to create dictatorship and to be corrupted. It is notable that the Rector served his job with no salary. So, yeah, long long time ago in Croatia, there was an ideal model of politics, and it seemed to work very well.


ドゥブロブニクは軍隊を持たない共和国だったそうです。軍隊のないこの小さな都市国家が繁栄した裏側には、しっかりとした要塞設備と巧みな外交手段によるものだそう。オスマン帝国に攻められた際も、税金を払うことで共和国の独立と貿易を守ることに成功したらしい。ちなみに、1416年にはすでに奴隷制度も廃止していて、ロヴリィエナッツ要塞の入口のモットーにあるように、自由を大切にしていたことがうかがわれます。

According to the guide book I've got with Dubrovnik Card, Dubrovnik Republic didn't have its own army. Dubrovnik wouldn't have prospered without its strong defensive fort system and skillful diplomacy. In fact,  when the Ottoman Empire attached the city to seize it, the republic succeeded in negotiating with Turks and both agreed to keep the autonomy of the republic by paying tax to the Ottoman Empire. Apparently, the tax was not as high as to collapse the republic, rather, Dubrovnik enjoyed its prosperity through trading with all over Europe while being protected (kind of) by the Ottoman Empire.

総督邸の中はそんなに広くないものの、中庭の階段や階段など、なかなか美しい作りになっています。展示物は決して多くなかったですが、その中でも金庫かな？宝箱のような箱に施されたものすご～く複雑で芸術品のようなカギのシステムが面白かったです。

The guide book states that Dubrovnik Republic abolished slavery and prohibited slave trading back in 1416. This tells that freedom is the motto of Dubrovnik, as seen on the entrance of Lovrijenac Fort.

Well, the inside of the palace was not that big, but it remains beautiful architecture such as the stairway and the gallery at the entrance. There weren't many things exhibited, although I was interested in small boxes, which I think were used as the safe or treasure boxes. They have very complex and detailed but very beautifully made artistic key lock system.

All the railing of steps were held by this hand sculpture. Not sure if it has any meaning though....

このドアの上には、ドゥブロブニクが共和国だったころに政治モットーがラテン語で「Obliti Privatorum Publica Curate」と刻まれています。意味は「私事は忘れ、公共のために尽くせよ」。権力を握る人に対する戒めのようです。政治のあるべき姿をみた、と思いました。当然のことなのに、今の世界では完全に忘れられていること。

The letters inscribed on the door reads "Obliti Privatorum Publica Curate", meaning "Forget private affairs, take care of public ones". This was the basis political motto of the Dubrovnik Republic and inscribed at the door of the Rector's Palace to remind all those in power. What a nice phrase!

ドブロブニクの物価とレストラン Prices and Restaurants in Dubrovnik

夏のバケーションシーズンにはヨーロッパ中から観光客が押し寄せてくるほど、ブロブニクはヨーロッパ人にとって人気のリゾート地です。なので、レストランやカフェはいたるところにあって、食べるものには困りません。どこのレストランもシーフード料理が充実しています。しっかりした味付けで日本人にはなじみやすいかも。ちなみに、クロアチアではサラダを注文するとドレッシングなどかかっておらず、テーブルの上にあるオリーブオイルと酢をかけて食べるのが一般的。

Dubrovnik is the one of the most popular destination for European people for summer vacation. So, there are lots of restaurants and cafes inside and outside the Old City of Dubrovnik, and you wouldn't have any difficulty finding a restaurant there. Most of restaurants serve really good meat plates and seafood! As far as I tried, restaurants in Dubrovnik serve tasty food.

By the way, one thing I was a bit surprised in Croatia was that mostly, salad is brought to table undressed. So, usually, I have to pour olive oil and vinegar prepared on the table.

でもドブロブニクに旅行に行く、となると気になるのは物価。レストランでの食事は、ザグレブの30%～40%増しといったところ。コーヒー1杯大体18Kn、ピザ1枚約45Kn、パスタ約70Kn、ケーキ約30Knと、まぁ、他のヨーロッパの観光都市と比べたらまだまだ安い方かも。

But, I think many people wonder how pricey Dubrovnik is. I would say, prices in Dubrovnik is higher by 30 to 40 % compared to Zagreb. Still, I think Dubrovnik is not pricey compared to other major European touristic destinations.  For example, a cup of coffee in Dubrovnik is about 18Kn, a middle-size pizza is about 45Kn, a plate of pasta is about 70Kn, and a cake is about 30Kn.

旧市街内のレストランの方が断然割高なので、旧市街の外かLapad半島あたりのレストランがお勧め。

そうは言っても、ぜひお勧めしたいのはスルジ山にあるレストラン・パノラマ。運よくテラス席に座ることができると、ライトアップされたドゥブロブニクを見下ろしながら食事ができます。私たちはここでケーキとコーヒー（二人で合計90Kn)をいただきながら、静かなドゥブロブニクの夜景を（ほぼ）独占していました。

There are more restaurants in Lapad peninsula, and they are usually cheaper than restaurants in the Old City.

But, I really recommend Restaurant Panorama next to the cable car station on mount Srđ if you have time! If you are lucky enough to get a table on terrace, you will have a gorgeous view of Dubrovnik in front of you :) My husband and I had cakes and coffee (90Kn for both of us) at the table on the terrace, having a very romantic time with just chatting and enjoying the lit-up night view of Dubrovnik :)

他の日に行ったら、ちょうどサンセットを狙って、このレストランに来る人が多いらしく、夕食時は長～い列ができていました。できれば予約することをお勧めます。朝食(50Knくらい）も出しているらしい。このテラス席から朝日に照らされるドゥブロブニクを見ながら朝食なんて、ものすごい優雅な時間！次に来るときは、ここで朝食を取るぞ！と心に決めてスルジ山を後にしました・・・。

When we visited the restaurant the other day just after the sunset, there are many people queuing up for dinner! So, I would recommend you to book a table before you go. Also, the restaurant serves breakfast (about 50Kn). Having breakfast on that terrace table over the panorama of Dubrovnik hit by the morning sun would be such an elegant morning :) I would definitely love to have breakfast at the restaurant next time when I visit Dubrovnik!

レストランはケーブルカーの稼働時間に合わせているみたいです。冬期は営業時間が短いので気を付けてください。ちなみに、スルジ山の上は、6月末でも日が落ちると寒かったです。テーブルにひざ掛けがあってよかった(>_<)

The opening hour of the restaurant Panorama changes depending on the operating hour of the cable car (see the pic). Also, after the sunset, the temperature suddenly dropped on the mount Srđ, and it was actually very cold even in the end of June! Lucky that the restaurant prepared rugs for us...


プレチェ門を入ったすぐ近くにあるレストラン、REVELIN CLUB。ここのテラス席からはドゥブロブニクの旧港が見渡すことができて、この中世な街の雰囲気がステキ。テラス席は食事をする人のみで、コーヒー、デザートだけだと手前の席に案内されます。

We also had lunch and coffee at a restaurant called REVELIN CLUB located near the Ploče gate. The curtains at the terrace give it very Roman atmosphere, and I really liked it :) And from there, you will have a great view of Dubrovnik Port.


レストランREVELIN CLUBでいただいたチョコレートケーキ（34Kn)、バナナ・スプリット(39Kn)、コーヒーと紅茶（それぞれ18Kn)。ケーキの値段がザグレブのカフェの倍くらいしていたけど、チョコレートケーキがものすっごくおいしかったので良しとしよう！ちなみに、ディナーのピーク時は席が空いていてもカフェの利用は断られてしまいました(>_<)カフェを利用したい場合、夕方の早い時間か夜の10時以降なら大丈夫そうです。

The photo shows the chocolate cake (34Kn), Banana Split (39Kn), coffee (18Kn) and tea (18Kn) we ordered. Comparing to prices of cakes in Zagreb, they were very expensive, almost double! But, the chocolate cake was super tasty and I didn't regret for that :)

By the way, when we returned for coffee the other day during the peak time of dinner, we were refused to have coffee and cake even though there was a table available :( So, if you want have only coffee and cake at the restaurant, avoid the peak time of dinner!

ドブロブニクのアパートメントホテル Apartment Hotel in Dubrovnik

ドゥブロブニクは夏のピーク時にもなると、ホテルを探すのが大変！特に城壁内、旧市街近くともなると、人気なので早くから予約しないとなかなか取れません。ホテルがたくさんある旧市街の西に位置するLapad半島にするか、旧市街のホテルにするか迷って、運よくBOOKING.COMで旧市街のアパートメントホテルを予約することができました。このサイト、海外旅行するときによく利用するのですが、クロアチアに限っていうと個人経営のアパートメントホテルやSobe（ソベ）と呼ばれる個人宅の一室まで幅広くカバーしているので自分に会ったホテルを探しやすいです。

ちなみに、旧市街までのバスが充実しているので、Lapad半島のホテルでも特に問題はないと感じました。反対に、私たちのように車でドゥブロブニクまでやってきて、旧市街に宿泊すると駐車場に困ります。旧市街から歩いて10分～15分のところに公共の駐車場があるのですが、一日180Knとかなり割高です。

It's very hard to find a hotel or apartment hotel in Dubrovnik during the peak of the touristic season. Especially, if you look for a hotel/apartment hotel in the Old City or nearby, you should book it as early as possible. We booked the apartment hotel at BOOKING.COM about 4 month ago. This website covers not only hotels, but also apartment hotels, Sobe (private room), so you could find a hotel/apartment hotel suits your trip plan.

By the way, the bus system in Dubrovnik is well developed and reliable. So, even if you decided to stay at Lapad peninsula, it wouldn't be a problem at all. On the other hand, if you travel to Dubrovnik by car and stay at the Old City or nearby, you will have problem with finding a parking spot. There is a big public garage about 10 to 15 min walk away from the Old City, but it's very costly - 180Kn per day.





















私たちが滞在したのはブジャ門近くの個人経営のアパートメントホテル。ブジャ門から歩いて本当に数分だったので、ドゥブロブニクの坂道を頻繁に行ったり来たりしなくてもよく、とても便利でした。



We stayed at a private apartment hotel near Buža Gate, so we didn't have to go up and down the steps so many times in Dubrovnik, which was great for us.





















あの旧市街の中のアパートなので、広さとかはぜんぜん期待してませんでしたが、思った通りちょっと狭かったです。一応小さいけれど簡易キッチンも付いていて自炊できました。シャワーもすごく狭かったです。ここ、体格のいい欧米人だとはみ出さないか心配になるくらいの狭さ・・・(^ ^;)　

ちなみに、旧市街入口のプロチェ門近くにコインランドリーもあるみたいです。

We didn't expect a big room, because it is located inside the small Old City of Dubrovnik. And as we have expected, the apartment hotel was a bit small. The room was equipped with a small kitchen, too. But, we have to be careful with out head not to hit with shelves when we cock. As for the shower room, it was very narrow. For me Japanese, it was OK, but even for average Western people might have problem with having shower...

By the way, there is a self-service laundromat just outside the Ploče gate, if you need.

窓を開けるとお隣さんの姿が・・・。朝には窓越しに挨拶したりして、ちょっと現地で暮らしている気分。

狭いアパートメント・ホテルだったけれど、夏の暑い時期にここを選んで正解でした。日中の強い日差しを避けて、朝と晩に行動して、お昼はスペイン人やイタリア人のようにシエスタを取ったので、すぐに宿に帰れるのは便利でした。どうして南ヨーロッパでシエスタが必要なのか分かったような気がした。

The houses in Dubrovnik stand side by side, so when I opened the window, I could see our "neighbor" and greeted as if we actually live there :)

The apartment hotel was small, but the location was great, because we could easily return to our apartment hotel. We decided to do sightseeing in the morning and evening, and take "siesta" during the daytime when the sun was strong. So, it was a good choice :) Now, I kind of understand why people need siesta in South Europe.

早朝のドブロブニク Dubrovnik in Early Morning

夜明け前のドゥブロブニクの街を見てみたい！ということで、朝の4：30にこっそり街に飛び出してみました。夜はあんなに人でにぎわっていた通りもこのとおり、し～～～～ん、と静まり返っています。

We wake up very early in the morning and and went out to the Old City of Dubrovnik at 4:30 am!  The street full people last night was now so silent and peaceful. The city was still sleeping...

昨日の夜は人でにぎわっていたレストラン通りもこのとおり、誰もいません。

There were many restaurants on this street and lots of people enjoying dinner last night, but now, there were no single person on the street.

こっちの通りも誰もいない。日中はあまり見かけなったネコ達が、ふいに目の前を通り過ぎるくらい。早朝のドブロブニクはネコの街になっていました。

No people on this street, too... Only cats ran across in front of us. Yep, Dubrovnik in the early morning was a cat city :)

ドブロブニクの旧港。ここでも闇に隠れて用心深く行動するネコ達に遭遇！それにしても、昼間の喧騒がうそのように本当に静か！穏やかな波の音と、風の音くらいしか耳に入ってこない。ついつい、旦那としゃべる時に小声になってしまう・・・。いつもとは違ったドゥブロブニクを独り占めした感じで、とっても贅沢な時間を過ごせた。がんばって朝早く起きてよかった・・・。

Silence also hung over the Dubrovnik Port. Even here, we encountered only cats cautiously moving in shadow. It looked very different from daytime when the city is full of tourists. Actually, I really liked Dubrovnik in this early morning (before the sunrise). There were only us and cats (and a few tourists) moving in the city, and it was very very quiet. It was so quiet that we even talked in whispers.

ドゥブロブニク旧市街の中心、プラツァ通り。ちらほら人がこちらに向かって歩いてくる。誰もいないと思っていたので、ちょっとびっくり（がっかり）・・・。どうやら、城壁のすぐ外にあるナイト・クラブで有名DJがパフォーマンスをしていたらしく、その帰りの若者たちだったみたい。酔っぱらったイギリス人グループが道の端っこに座り込んだりしていた。

ドゥブロブニクにナイト・クラブなんてなんだか不釣り合いな感じがするけれど、いろんな年齢層の観光客が楽しめる、と言う意味ではいいことなのかも?!

But, we actually passed by some young tourist people on Placa street in the early morning. We thought there would be few people, so a bit disappointed, to be honest... It seemed like they just came back from a Night Club located just behind the City Walls near Revelin Fort.

Personally, I think Night Club doesn't fit to the Old City of Dubrovnik, but on the other hand, that means people in all ages can enjoy Dubrovnik.

長い年月人が歩いてきたこの道は、表面がつるつっるに磨かれています。ちょうど街灯が鏡のような路面に反射して、まるで雨に濡れたかのような幻想的な雰囲気。

ちょうど朝の5：00に街の街灯が一斉に消されました。この頃になると、もう空も明るくなって、清掃員の人たちが街を掃除してたり、お店に飲み物などを運んだりして、観光客を迎える準備をしていました。

The surface of the Placa street is very slippery! I'm not sure, but maybe because of people walking on the street over centuries and polishing the stones. Sounds very romantic, isn't it?! Anyway, the street looks as if it was wet, but actually, it wasn't. Lights in the city reflected on the glassy road and created a fantastic view :)

Just before 5:00am, all the lights in the city were turned off. But, by that time, the sky is already bright and daybreak had arrived. Gradually, people in Dubrovnik started cleaning streets, small trucks were carrying drink and food to prepare for welcoming tourists.

眠らない街ドブロブニク Dubrovnik Unsleeping City

真っ暗闇の中にぽつん、と浮かび上がるライトアップされたドゥブロブニク。でも街の中はまだまだ観光客でにぎわってます。音楽やら笑い声やら聞こえてきて、何やらとってもにぎやか。

The lit up Old City of Dubrovnik stood out in the darkness of night. But, the city did not sleep that fast! Still the Old City of Dubrovnik was full of people, enjoying nice live music and roughing. Dubrovnik at night is very lively! 

観光シーズン真っ只中の7月～8月は、日が落ちて暗闇がドゥブロブニクの旧市街を包み込むのは8時～9時ごろ。少し涼しくなって、街はレストランのテラス席でディナーを楽しむ人でいっぱい。ドゥブロブニクに限らずアドリア海の街はシーフード料理が充実してます。イタリア料理の影響を受けていて、案外どのレストランでも料理はおいしかったです。

It's usually around 8 to 9PM when it gets dark in Dubrovnik at the highest tourism season (July to August). After the sunset, the temperature drops and cool air breeze from the Adriatic Sea, people enjoy dinner and drink at outside tables of restaurants and cafes. Generally, coastal cities have very good seafood restaurants, and their food are bit influenced by Italian food, so mostly, restaurants serve really good and tasty food.








こんな裏道にあるレストラン。メイン通りと違って少し静かで、ゆったりと料理とドゥブロブニクの夜が楽しめるかも。こういう風景と言うか雰囲気も日本にはない独特な感じで、「遠いところまで旅に来たな」という気分にさせてくれる。

Each narrow streets are full of restaurants and cafes. Compared to the main street, it's quieter on small streets. So, you can relax and enjoy your dinner and great night of Dubrovnik. This atmosphere and view, I mean, so many tables on the streets and people eating there while other people pass by looks very unique for us Japanese and that is something we miss in Japan.

オノフリオの大噴水。日中はここに座って涼む人もたくさんいたけれど、夜は静かな感じ。観光地だけあって、お土産屋さんもコンビニみたいな小さなお店も夜遅くまで開いているので助かります。

This is the Big Onofrio's Fountain. There are many people sitting there to relax near the cold water during daytime, but now, this site seems very quiet at night.

In the Old City of Dubrovnik, many souvenir shops, small grocery shops, restaurants and cafes open until late at night. It was actually very convenient.

オルランドの柱の前を行きかう人々。私たちがドブロブニクを訪れたのはヨーロッパでホリデーシーズンが始まる前だったので空いていたけれど、ピーク時は大型客船が何隻も寄港することもあって、ものすごい人で溢れかえって前に進むのも大変なんだとか・・・。多い時では７隻のクルーザーが寄港して、一日で約10,000人もの乗客がドゥブロブニクに上陸するそうです。7月が一番混雑する時期なので、これを避けた方がもっとゆっくりドゥブロブニクを楽しめると思います。

So many people go by in front of the Orlando's column. We visited just before the holiday season started in Europe, so Dubrovnik was not to crowded. But, during the peak of the holiday season, many cruisers call at Dubrovnik and bringing thousands of passengers to the city. At the peak of this year, 7 cruisers arrived at Dubrovnik port and brought nearly 10,000 people one day! So, you know, how packed the city will be at the peak of the summer holiday season.

プラツァ通りで演奏している人。近くでは人目を気にせずに音楽に合わせて踊っているカップルも・・・。ドゥブロブニクの夜はそんなロマンチックな気分にさせてくれるのかも。

夜のドゥブロブニクをのんびり歩いていたら、知らない間に夜中に…！まだまだドゥブロブニクの夜は続きそうだけれど、なるべく朝早くから行動できるようにホテルに帰って寝なきゃ・・・。

When I looked at the watch, it was already midnight! Time flied very very quickly while I enjoy walking around the city. It seemed like the night would not end that soon, but because I wanted to wake up early to explore a bit more of the city while avoiding the strong sun in the afternoon, I went back to the hotel soon after I took this photo.

 ドゥブロブニクのお昼下がりを散歩してみる・・・。ここまで階段を登ってくるのは意外に大変！狭い路地にはためく洗濯物がカメラで切り取った風景に味を出している。この中世の町に未だに人が住んでいる、というのがドゥブロブニクをさらに魅力的にしているんだと思う。「あの狭い路地の先に何かあるかも?!」と好奇心を駆り立ててくれる。人が住んでいなかったら、きっとこんなに魅了されることもなかったんじゃないかな・・・。

Now, we explored a bit of Dubrovnik in the afternoon. Climbing up steps to get this photo-taking point was very exhausting! The washing blew by breeze from the Adriatic Sea made this view very unique and interesting. I think because people do live their daily life here, Dubrovnik attract so many tourists and make the Old City more unique and interesting. It's like as if I wander into an medieval time.　Dubrovnik excites curiosity like, "what am I going to find if I walk up to the end of this narrow street?"

アドリア海の強い太陽に照らされるドゥブロブニクの小さなストリート。向こうに見えるのはドミニコ会修道院。白い路面と壁に光が反射して、とっても眩しい！やっぱり、この夏の日差しは日本にはない特別な感じ。ドゥブロブニクを訪れるなら、絶対に初夏～晩夏がお勧め。

The strong Adriatic Sun touches the Cold City of Dubrovnik and reflects on the whity road surfaces and walls. Dubrovnik in the afternoon is very bright, and sometimes it was hard to even keep my eyes open! Still, I would recommend you to visit this charming Adriatic Old City from the early summer to the end of summer, or even til the beginning of autumn. The old building you see over there on the photo is Dominican Monastery.


スポンザ宮殿の入口近くで楽器を演奏する人々。自然と人が集まって、輪を作っていました。演奏していたのはバロック音楽だったかな？来ている服もちょっと中世風?!　ドゥブロブニクの街の雰囲気にぴったり合っていました。

朝晩限らず、ドゥブロブニクではどこかで音楽を演奏している人に遭遇しました。そして、みんな足を止めて音楽に耳を澄ます・・・。そういったゆったりした時間が流れているのがドゥブロブニク。

I encountered with people who played music in front of Sponza Palace (Palača Sponza). I think they played the baroque music, and it mixed very well with the medieval atmosphere of Dubrovnik.

In Dubrovnik, you will see many people playing music (usually classical music) everywhere in summer. So, the city becomes more livelier and bustling. From mid July to the end of August (10 July to 25 Aug for this year), Dubrovnik hosts "Dubrovnik Summer Festival" full of cultural events such as music concerts, theatre performances, dance, art and so on.

ドゥブロブニク中心にある青空市場にやってきました。ザグレブのドラッツに比べて、かなり小さい・・・。どうやら、早朝は地元の人をターゲットにした野菜だとか果物、お昼近くになると観光客相手のお店が増えるみたい。この中に、日本語を流暢にしゃべる売り子さんがいて、びっくり！ 蜂蜜だとか乾燥イチジクを売っていて、説明も日本語なのでついつい聞き入ってしまう(^ ^;) 聞いたところ、3か月語学学校に行って日本語を勉強したんだそう。3か月でここまで上達するのっ?!とびっくりするくらい上手だった。

Here we come the market, which is located inside the City Walls.  Compared to the Dolac market in Zagreb, this is much smaller, though. It seems like they sell veggies and fruits targeted more local people in the early morning, and int the afternoon, there are more shops selling souvenirs like honey, dry fig, lavender and so on. There, we were stopped by a shop-woman who speaks very good Japanese! She told us that she studied Japanese at a language school for 3 months. But, her Japanese is really good and I couldn't believe that she had learn so much in 3 months.

ルジャ広場にあるオノフリオの小噴水。冷た～い水がとっても気持ちいい♪炎天下で歩き疲れた後の、この冷たい水はものづごくありがたい。ここの水も、ピレ門近くのオノフリオの大噴水の水も、どちらも一応飲むことができるようで、ペットボトルに水を汲む観光客を結構見ました。

There are fountains at the beginning and the end of Placa street: one is Big Onofrio Fountain, and the other one on the photo is Small Onofrio Fountain.  The fountains supply cold drinkable water, so I saw some people fill their bottle with water from the fountain. This very cold water was great, especially after I walked a couple of hours under the strong sun. It was very refreshing!








続いて、ドブロブニク旧港。今でもたくさんのボートが止まっています。ドブロブニク近くのロクルム島行きのボート、クルージングツアーなどはここから出発です。

Now, we got to the Ｃｉｔｙ Port of Dubrovnik. Boats to Lokrum Island located 700m offshore and many short cruising tours depart from this port.



港でボートもたくさん止まっている割に、海の水が透き通っていて、びっくり！旧港をずっと道なりに歩いて行くと、海水浴をしている人たちを発見。城壁のすぐ外側で泳げるなんて贅沢。

旧港では地元の漁師さんが真剣に網を編んでいました。

It was amazing that water at the Port is relatively clean and I could see the bottom of the water. When you walk along the street of the Port to the end, you will find a swimming spot.



城壁の中に戻って、もう少しだけ観光。ここはルジャ広場に面した聖ヴラホ教会。内部は意外にシンプル。でもステンドグラスに差し込んだ光が、ちょうど祭壇を色とりどりの光が包み込んでいて、幻想的な雰囲気を作っていました。











Returned inside the City Walls again. This is Church of St. Blaise at Luža square. Inside the church was rather very simple compared to other churches in Dubrovnik. But, the sun shined through the stained glasses and lit the alter with beautiful colours, and made a very mysterious and sacred atmosphere inside the church.





この教会は聖ヴラホという、ドゥブロブニクの守護聖人を祭っています。聖ヴラホは、地震で破壊される前のドゥブロブニク旧市街の模型を手にしています。そのため、昔のドブロブニクの姿を知る、貴重な文化資料としての価値もあるそうです。聖ヴラホの象はピレ門の上にもあったり、とよく見るといろんなところに飾ってありました。それだけドゥブロブニクの人にとって大切な存在なんだろうなぁ・・・。

The church was built to consecrate to St. Blaise, who is the patron saint of Dubrovnik. He holds a model of the City of Dubrovnik showing the city before it was destroyed by the "Great Quake" in 1667. The statue of St. Blaise is also placed on the Pile Gate, and many other places in Dubrovnik., which tells us how important he is for Dubrovnik and how much he is loved by people in Dubrovnik.




一方こちらは、聖ヴラホ教会のすぐ裏側にある大聖堂。こちらも中は白を基調にしたシンプルで明るい大聖堂。ここの一番の見どころはイタリアの有名画家ティツィアーノの絵画「聖母被昇天」。

この教会の修復をしていたときに、偶然6世紀ごろのビザンチン教会の跡が見つかったそう。これがドゥブロブニクが6世紀以前から存在していた証拠になったとか・・・。






This is Cathedral located just behind the Church of St. Blaise. The inside of the church is also very simple and based on white colour. So, it was very bright and clean, on which "Assumption of Our Lady" painted by the famous Italian painter Tiziano stands out.

It is also said that archaeological researcher found remnants of Byzantine church of 6th century when the Cathedral was restored. This findings prove that Dubrovnik exists before 6th century. So, Dubrovnik has very long history.





総督邸の前で幸せそうに微笑む花嫁・花婿さんに遭遇。話している言葉から、どうやらイタリア人カップルらしい。こんなところで結婚式なんて、ロマンチック！私たちは結婚式は済ませてしまったので、せめて写真だけでもこんなステキな世界遺産の街で撮れたらいいな～なんて想像してしまいました。

We encountered with happy bride and groom in front of Lector's Palace. It seemed like the happy couple came all the way to Dubrovnik from Italy. Having a wedding ceremony and reception in this charming Old City of Dubrovnik is so romantic! Unfortunately, we already had our wedding in Zagreb (and in Japan!), so we can't have another wedding here, but it would be awesome if I could have even wedding photo shoot in Dubrovnik.
