自転車デビュー New Bicycle

自転車デビューと言っても私ではなく旦那ですが、我が家に新しい自転車がやってきました。家から旦那の会社までは歩いて45分。車で行っても渋滞にはまって無駄にガソリンを消費するだけなので、自転車を、とずっと話していましたが、ついに購入しましたv(｡･ω･｡)。

My husband bought a new bicycle so that he can ride it to the office. He always wanted to buy one, because it takes about 45 mins to the office by foot, and also, it could be save money and time. Even when he goes to the office by car, often he is caught by the traffic jam an wasting time and petrol.


現在、ザグレブではガソリン１Ｌ約11.30Kn (日本円にして約158円）。日本とほとんど変わらないと思います。でも、平均月収が約30万の日本に比べたら、平均月収が8万くらいのクロアチアでこの値段ははっきり言ってべらぼうに高いです。とはいうものも周りを見てもたくさんの車が走っているし、どうやってやりくりしているのか不思議なくらい。

そういうこともあって自転車の購入を決定しました。聞くところによると、経済不況、ガソリン価格の高騰の影響でここ3年、自転車に乗る人が急増したらしいです。

近くの自転車屋さん何件か回ってみた感想ですが、自転車の相場はディスカウント抜きで大体2000Kn～（2012年10月15日時点で1Kn = 約13.5円）。自転車屋さんには2000Kn以下で自転車を探すのは難しい、と言われました。

Currently, the petrol price in Zagreb is about 11.30Kn per litter. I think the price is almost the same as in Japan, or could be a bit more expensive than in Japan. Considering that Japanese average monthly income is about 3,000 euro (before taxed), this petrol price is extremely expensive to Zagreb people whose monthly income before tax is about 800 euro! But, still I see lots of cars on the roads. I seriously want to ask how they manage their finances...

Anyway, my husband's coworker told us that more and more people start riding bicycles because of economic crisis and high price of petrol.

When I visited some bicycle shops, I found bicycles are very expensive here. It's very hard to find a bicycle below 1,500Kn. We didn't want to buy too expensive bicycle in case someone steel it :S

自転車の価格もここ3年でかなり跳ね上がったそうです。その影響もあってか、ここザグレブでは自転車の盗難事故が多発しています。たぶん他のヨーロッパ諸国も同じような感じかな。写真はパリで見つけた無残な姿の自転車・・・。聞いた話だと、自転車本体と写真をロックしてちょっとATMによって目を離した2，3分の間に自転車が盗まれた、ということもあるそうです。自転車が盗まれても警察はあまり動いてくれないらしく、自己防衛をしっかりするほかないのだとか。そういう話を聞くと、日本って安全な国だな、と感じます。そんなわけで、我が家も自転車は家の中に入れています。

I've heard that price of a bicycle is doubled or even more in the last 3 years here in Zagreb. It might increases the number of stolen bicycles in Zagreb. I think it is not only the problem in Zagreb, but all European countries share it, but bicycles thefts are very serious problem. I've even heard about a story that a person locked his bike between the main frame and wheel and went to ATM, and in a few minutes when he looked away, someone took his bicycle. The photo above is the bicycle I found in Paris.

So, to avoid our bicycle be stolen, we keep the new bicycle inside our apartment.

The situation is very different from Japan, well, at least from my town and around. There are of course bike thefts. But, most cases, a thief steel a bike which is not locked, and the purpose of steeling is not to sell it but to get a quick ride to his destination and then just leave the bike there. So, when a bicycle is stolen, we usually report it to a local police and they will find it in a month with high chances.

ちなみにザグレブの自転車事情を…。こちらではオランダやデンマークに比べたらまだまだ自転車専用道路の整備もしっかりされていない感じです。写真は歩道の隅に書かれた自転車道。う～ん、でも日本に比べたらちょことだけ進んでる感じなのかな?　クロアチア人は車の運転も荒いので、自転車で街を乗り回すときは要注意。方向指示器を出さないで曲がったり、曲がるのと同時に方向指示器を出す人が結構います(^ ^;) 

I think compared to Holland and Denmark or other European countries, Zagreb needs to improve the bicycle roads a bit more. Well, compared to Japan, Zagreb is better, because in my town and around, we don't have it yet (I think we still don't...). Anyway, when you ride a bicycle in Zagreb, watch cars around you carefully. I found out that many Croatian drivers turns without turning the indicator or turns the indicator the moment when they turn. Which actually surprised me because the driving habits are bit different from Japan.

ザグレブっ子の夏の夜の過ごし方 Summer Night Out on Stross

９月に入って気温もぐっと下がって秋の陽気のザグレブですが、地元ザグレブっ子の夏の夜の楽しみシュトロス(Stross)を語らずに夏は終えません。夏の間のザグレブっ子の合言葉と言えば「じゃぁ、シュトロスに××時に！」っといった感じ。そんな風にザグレブっ子に愛される「シュトロス」はロトルシャチャク塔の下に東西に延びるStrossmayerという通り、ケーブルカーの出入り口の西側に夏の間出現します。

Unlike in the title of this article, it's already autumn in Zagreb and getting colder and colder every day. No more summer clothes... so sad :S Anyway, I should mention about how Zagrepčani (local Zagreb people) enjoy their summer night on Stross! During summer, when they meet friends, they say "Let's meet at ××pm on Stross!!". So you see how much Zagrepčani love Stross :) "Stross", pronounced as "shtros", is the West part of street called "Strossmayer" extending East and West in front of Lotrščak Tower.


シュトロスは５月２９日から９月２日まで開かれるサマーフェスティバルです。この期間中、毎晩７時、８時ごろからバンドの生演奏が聞けます。ライブミュージックは、ポップ、ロック、オールディーズ、ケルト音楽、ジャズ、ラテンと多岐に渡っていて、しかも毎晩違ったバンドが演奏するので頻繁に通っても飽きることはありません。

個人的にはケルト・ナイトとオールディーズが良かった！ケルト・ナイトの時は輪になって踊っている人もいたり、笑い声の絶えない楽しい夏の夜でした♪

ちなみに、オープンスペースなので入場料とかはありません。

Stross is a kind of a Summer Festival held from 29 May to 2 September. Every night different bands play music raging from pop music, rock, oldies, jazz to Celtic music around 7-8pm (end at 11:00pm). So, each night different live music is played, and you wouldn't get bored at all even if you visit Stross every night :) And it's ope-air music concert, so there is no entry charge for Stross.

Personally, I really liked the bands who played Celtic music and Oldies. On the Celtic music Night, some people started dancing in a circle to the music. It was such a great night, people were chatting, laughing, enjoying the music... :)

Actually, this reminds me a bit of "beer garden" in Japan. In Japan, many beer gardens open during summer to provide open-air space to enjoy cold beer and other drinks in the hot and steamy summer. Usually people go to the beer garden with colleagues after work or friends. So, you will see so many men in suit. Most of the beer gardens are found on the roof terrace of the buildings. But there are some interesting options, such as beer garden on a train/tram and on a boat :)

なんだかとってもエキゾチックな木の彫り物が飾ってありました。聞くところによるとシュトロスはパリのモンマルトルをまねて始まったそう。モンマルトルには未だ行ったことがないので、どの辺が似ているのか今一分からないけれど、パリの人々のように音楽と芸術の夜を楽しもうっ！っていうことなのかな???　

シュトロスには焼きトウモロコシやらポップコーンの屋台、ビールなどの飲み物を売っている屋台があります。でもほとんどの人はワインなど飲み物持参で来る人が多いです(^ ^;) 本当に地元の人が夜集まって、ライブミュージックを聞きながらおしゃべりを楽しむ場、っていう感じ。

Back to Stross... I found exotic wooden carvings hanging on trees. I've heard that the summer festival on Stross was inspired by Montmartre of Paris. I've never been to Montmartre, so I can't really compared those two, but I guess Stross started in the spirit of enjoying music and art like Parisians.

There are some stands selling grilled corn, popcorn, beer and other drink, painting, artistic goods and so on. But, many Zagrepčani bring their own drink and food to Stross. So, Stross is an open-air where people gather to see their friends, enjoy chatting and drinking with nice live music.

座る場所も少ないのでほとんどが立ち飲み＆立ち話です。「席を確保したかったら６時くらいに来ないとね」、とザグレブの友人が話しているように、とっても混み合います。地元のザグレブっ子ばっかりなので、ちょっと"アウェイ"な感じもしますが、機会があったらザグレブっ子の愛するシュトロスでザグレブの夏の夜を楽しんでみてください！詳細なプログラムは公式ウェブサイト（こちら）にあります。あれ？９月２日までってあったのに、９月２２日までバンド演奏のスケジュールが・・・。延長になったのかな???まぁ、そういう適当なところがクロアチアっぽい（笑）

There aren't so many chairs and benches to sit down on Stross, so most of people just stand to drink and chat. My local friend told me that if I want to reserve a table and bench, when I should come to Stross by 6pm. And when it's on Friday or Saturday, Stross gets really really crowded! I hardly see any foreigners there, but if you have time, visit Stross and enjoy summer in Zagreb with Zagrepčani! The detailed program of Stross Summer Festival can be found on their official website (here). Oh? I just found that still some band play music until 22 September, although the official website says that Stross opens until 2 September. Maybe they extended the schedule :) Sometimes, things doesn't go on schedule in Croatia. I think Croatian people are very flexible.

アートな街ザグレブ Capital of Art Zagreb?!

5月29日から6月3日までザグレブでアニメフェスタ2012が開かれていた関係か、街中の公園ジュリニェヴァッツ(Zrinjevac)に突如とかわいい動物のキャラクターたちがお目見え。


Suddenly many cute animal characters appear at Zrinjevac, the park in the center of Zagreb! It may have some connection with Anime Festival 2012 held in Zagreb from 29 May to 3 June.

しかもこの子たち、違う日に行ってみたら移動していた・・・。誰かが動かしたのかな。


I also found that they have moved to other positions when I visited the Zrinjevac the other day... Hmmm, who moved them?








絵本か何かのキャラクターかな？いろんな動物がいてかわいい。



I wonder if they are characters from any books. so many cute different animal characters :)

こういう遊び心があふれているザグレブ。常に何か「発見」があるから、街を散策していてもぜんぜん飽きない。 


I think people in Zagreb and people in Croatia in general has a good sense of fun. When I have a walk around the city, I always find something new, so I've never get bored with Zagreb :)






 


CESTっていう6月8日から12日まで開催されるストリートパフォーマンス（大道芸）のフェスティバルの告知も。でも今日イェラチッチ広場ですでにストリートパフォーマンスやってた。ちょっとフライング?!

CEST is the festival of street performances starting from 8 June till 12 June. But when I went to the center, I've already seen a stage and a street performer entertaining lots of audiences. 

 木にこんな落書き?!が。かわいんだか、なんだか・・・(^ ^;)

木に書かれた女の子は冬に見つけたんだけれど、最近は雨なんかで消えかかってます。消したりしないでそのままにされていたみたい。

ザグレブの街には彫刻やらモニュメントがたくさん。こんなまんまるな玉?!が置いてあったり・・・

You will find lots of statues and monuments and so on. There is a big ball in the middle of the city, too.










ザグレブの街を歩きながら街中に散らばる彫刻やモニュメントを探してみるのも面白いかも。


It might be fun to "catch" those statues and monuments with your camera :)

先日行われたファッションインダストリー・フェスティバル。イェラチッチ広場では毎週何かしらイベントが開かれてます。メルボルンみたい。

The photo is from the fashion industry festival held in early May. There are always some events held at the Jelačić square. This also reminds me of Melbourne, which also host many international, domestic and cultural festivals and events. 







おっきな馬？みたいのまで登場。この写真は春ごろに撮ったもので「クリスマス・モンスター」というタイトルがついていました。いらなくなったクリスマスツリーで作ったみたい。

A big horse (?) suddenly appears in the center of Zagreb. The work is titled as "Christmas Monster". I think this was made of disposed Christmas trees.

ザグレブはアートが生活の中に上手く、自然に調和した街。ザグレブを散策する際にはぜひ、足もと、壁、路地なんかにもちょっと注意してみてくださいね。隠れたアートに出会えるかも。

Zagreb is the city that embraces arts in daily life. When you take a walk in Zagreb, pay a little attention to your feet, walls surrounding you, a small and narrow passage, and you may find a hidden arts ;)

ザグレブの街を見下ろしながらランチ Enjoy Lunch with Lovely View of Zagreb

もう1か月ほど前になりますが、私の誕生日のお祝いにザグレブのレストラン、Pod Gričkim Topom（ウェブサイトはこちら）でランチを楽しみました。このレストランは世界一短いと言われるケーブルカーに乗ってアッパータウンで降りたすぐ近くにあります。

My husband took me to my favourite restaurant in Zagreb called "Pod Gričkim Topom（website）" for my birthday. The restaurant is located at the Upper Town just next to the entrance/exit of "the world shortest funicular". My birthday was April and I wore a coat, but in a few days later, I spent all the day in a T-shirt. The weather in Zagreb in the spring is unpredictable - it could be very hot and dry, but it could be a bit cold and windy in the next day.



レストランの中は木のぬくもりが周りの自然に調和してとても居心地のいい雰囲気です。実際、街の中なのに、レストラン内はとても静かで、鳥のさえずりに耳を澄ませながら、目下に広がるザグレブの街並みを楽しみながらお食事ができます。

The wood tables and antique furniture of the restaurant matches very well with the nature and make very cozy space. The restaurant is situated in the centre of Zagreb, but inside the restaurant is very quiet. I had a great time there with tasty lunch while enjoying green nature and birds singing :)

メニューの価格は、他のザグレブのレストランと比べて高めなので、お客さんは外国人が多いかな。ちょうど私たちがランチを楽しんでいるとき、日本大使館からのオーダーが。ランチの時はよほど大丈夫ですが、ディナーは予約をすることをお勧めします。

The prices of their menu is higher than normal restaurants where local people go, but not overpriced I think. So, I realise that most of the guests at the restaurants are non-Croatian people.  If you go to this restaurant for lunch, usually you can find a table without reservation, but for dinner, especially on special occasions such as Christmas and Valentine's Day, definitely better to book a table.

この写真は1年以上前に撮ったもので、ちょっと古いですが・・・。春のやわらかい日差しが差し込む、緑に囲まれたテラス席で、ゆったりとしたランチの時間が心地よかったです。このときいただいたのはトリュフのパスタ（大体78Ｋｎ）。他のレストランではクリームベースのトリュフパスタが多い中、オイルベースであっさりとてして、とてもおいしかったです。ボリュームも味付けも日本人にはちょうどいい感じ。1年前は今と比べてだいぶ痩せてたなぁ・・・ちょっとダイエットしなきゃ(；´Д｀)

This photo was actually taken more than one year ago, so I look a bit different (mostly because I gained some weight...). The table at the terrace was great especially on a sunny spring day :) I ordered truffle pasta (about 78Kn). The volume of the food was just right for me (and for most Japanese). I often find truffle pasta with cream sauce at other restaurants, but this restaurant served the truffle pasta with olive oil sauce, which was not too heavy and indeed very tasty.

レストランの環境も、サービスも、料理も素晴らしいんですが、デザートは格別。毎回、行くたびに違うデザートが用意されているので、それも楽しみの一つです。

The restaurant is located in the great place looking down the city of Zagreb while enjoying the peaceful time in the nature, has a great service and served wonderful plates. But, you can't leave without having their desert! Every time I visit there, they prepare new desert. So, it is one of amusements of the restaurant, too.

誕生日のときは、イチゴとマスカルポーネをパイ生地の器に入れたものがデザートをいただいました。
ザグレブでゆっくりおいしいお食事を楽しみたいときにお勧めのレストランです。

For my birthday, I had a cake of strawberries and Mascarpone cream in a cup of pie. Yummy yummy :P

乙女心なザグレブの天気 Fickle Weather of Zagreb

4月半ばまでコートが必要だったザグレブも、4月後半から初夏のような暑さ！気温も28℃まで上がる日もありました。

暑いのでみんなカフェなんかでおしゃべりしながら涼んでます。ザグレブの街で行きかう人も、もう半袖の夏服。

暖かくなって、街の中心の広場でもいろいろな催しが開かれています。下の写真は「ファッション・ウィーク」のものです。クロアチアのデザイナー、ファッション・ブランドがお店を出していて、ものすごく賑わっていました。

友達と1時間くらい日の当たるベンチで話をしていたら見事に半袖の跡が残るくらいに日焼けしました(>_<) ザグレブは、オーストラリア並に紫外線が強く感じます。街を歩いていると雨傘を日傘代わりにしているおばあちゃんを発見。こんな天気で日傘をさしていると不思議そうに見られるのは確実だけれど、そんなのを気にしていられないほどの強い日差しです。

実際、クロアチアの海岸沿いにはヨーロッパ各地から日焼けするために来る人も多いのだとか。無理に焼こうとして、結構問題になっているらしいです。

そうかと思えば、昨日は最高気温も12℃と急に寒くなったり・・・。お隣の国の首都サラエボでは5月中旬だと言うのに雪が降ったそうです。2日前は暑くてたまらなかったのに、今日は冬のコートを来て暖炉用の薪割りだなんて、びっくりする天気の変わりようです。

4月5月のクロアチアは、変わりやすい天気に備えた服装がいいかも。そして、紫外線対策は日本にいるとき以上に気を付けた方が良さそう。 それと、日本とは違ってものすごく乾燥するので、乾燥対策、街を散策するときはお水を持っていくと便利だと思います。

It was a bit cold until mid-April, but the temperature suddenly increased in Zagreb from late-April as if it is early-summer already. The temperature even reached to 28 degrees!

So, in this very hot weather, people enjoy their coffee, cakes and ice cream at cafes :) I really this way of spending time with friends and family. 

But, the weather here in Zagreb since April was very fickle. Around 23-24 April, I needed a winter coat when I go out, but in a couple of days later, I wore a summer dress. The nice early-summer weather continued until yesterday, when the temperature suddenly dropped. In Sarajevo, it even snowed!

I also felt very strong ultraviolet here. I've got tanned in one hour while I was under the sun with having a chat with my friend. I should have put sun cream, but I didn't get used to putting it because I usually use a sunbrella (a parasol) in Japan.

I think maybe it is not common or popular to use the sunbrella outside Japan. In fact, people from Europe, America and Australia might wonder why Japanese women open umbrella. In Japan, most female try to avoid getting tanned. I think it is because they worry about getting stains and winkles on their skin, and because having fair skin is considered as one condition of the beauty. So, in Japan, you will find many skin care products saying "Whitening". Even big-name cosmetic brands such as Chanel, Dior and so on provide whitening skin care products, which I've never seen outside Japan (and other Asian countries).

Anyway, the combination of strong sun, dry weather, cafes and the tram remind me of Melbourne, Australia :)

ザグレブ一のアイスクリーム Best Gelati in Zagreb

チョコレートとピスタチオのジェラート

まだまだ2月で寒い、と思っていたら今週から急に気温が上がってきたザグレブ。今週末には2月だというのに17℃の予報！そろそろアイスクリームも食べたくなってくる気温、ということで今回はザグレブのおいしいアイスクリーム屋さんをご紹介します。

  2011年にザグレブ中心部に新しくオープンしたショッピングセンターCvjetniの入口正面左のバー＆ビストロG (住所：Preobraženska, Zagreb）。カフェがメインで、アイスクリームはひっそりと陳列されていたので、あんまり期待していなかったのですが、イタリアンジェラートのようななめらかで濃厚な味にすっかり虜に・・・。

  ジェラートの種類はチョコレート、バニラ、ビスタチオ、ヘーゼルナッツ、レモン、ラズベリーなど約10種類。写真はその中のチョコレートとピスタチオのジェラートです。チョコレートのジェラートは、大人なビターチョコレートがものすごいリッチな味。ピスタチオも本来の自然な甘みが引き立っていてものすごくクリーミー。レモンはものすご～くさわやかな味で、夏にぴったり。ヘーゼルナッツもコクがあっておいしかった。

  ここのジェラートは1つ9Knなんですが、同じ値段で写真のようにハーフ＆ハーフにすることもできちゃいます♪かなり大きいので、これだけでかなりの満足感があります。ハーフ＆ハーフで注文したいときは

Čokolada i pistacchio, po pola, molim! (チョコらーだ　イ　ピスタチオ、ぽ　ポーラ、モーリム！）

または

Pola čokolada i pola pistacchio, molim! (ポーラ　チョコらーだ　イ　ポーラ　ピスタチオ、モーリム！）

  というと写真のようにチョコレートとピスタチオのジェラートを半分ずつ盛ってくれます。ちなみに、席についてウェイターさんにジェラートを注文するとグラスに入れて持ってきてくれるけれど、ジェラートの陳列棚の前で注文すると、カップかコーンに入れてくれます。クロアチア語でカップは「šalica (シャリツァ）」、コーンは「kornet (コルネト）」。食べ歩きで、カップに盛ってほしいときは「u šalici (う　シャリチ）」を、コーンに盛ってほしいときは「u korenetu （う　コルネトゥ）」と言えばOK。

  お店の場所はカフェ・オランジュから南にほんの少し歩いて、ちょっとした広場を西に突き抜けていくとあります。夕方や週末になるとたくさんの人で溢れかえった、ザグレブでもにぎやかな一角です。

開放的なバー＆ビストロG

Zagreb was under heavy snow (-20 degrees in the early morning!) until last weekend, but suddenly it's getting warmer and warmer. I feel like as if the spring is coming :) The weather forecast says that it might reach 16 degrees this Saturday! It's actually warmer than in Japan... So, now, it's perfect time to enjoy yummy ice cream in Zagreb! :)

  My favourite Gelateria is the bar&bistro G (address: Preobraženska, Zagreb), which is located at the entrance of the newly opened shopping centre Cvjetni in the centre of Zagreb. This bar&bistor is not too far from the cafe Oranž. Only a few minutes walk to the Sough from the Oranž and then walk across the small square to the East.

  When I first passed by the gelateria, I didn't expect much, because it's more like cafe and not specialised for ice cream. But, soon I found that they serve really tasty ice cream, more like gelati, contrary to my expectations!

  The gelateria has usually 10 different gelati on the display showcase, such as chocolate, pistachio, vanilla, hazelnut, lemon, raspberry and so on. I ordered chocolate and pistachio gelati, and my husband ordered lemon and hazelnut gelati :) I really love those chocolate and pistachio gelati, which have very rich and elegant, but not too sweet, taste. The lemon one has very natural lemon taste and very fresh, which I'd love to have in summer.

  On cup or one cone of gelato costs 9kn here. But, you can order half and half with the same price, like we did on the photo :) If you want to order two different gelati on one cup, you would say:


Čokolada i pistacchio, po pola, molim!

or

Pola čokolada i pola pistacchio, molim!

 When you order your gelati on table, your waiter would bring them on a glass like on the photo, but when you order the gelati in front of the counter, you will get them on a cup or on a cone. If you want to have your gelati on cup, tell the person at the counter "u šalici", and if you want to have your gelati on cone, say "u korenetu". Enjoy nice gelati! Dobar tek!

ザグレブのカフェ Cafe Oranž

クロアチアはイタリアの隣ということもあって、安くておいしいイタリア料理のお店がたくさんあるのを前回ご紹介しましたが、今回はザグレブのお勧めのカフェをご紹介します♪

  ザグレブはたくさんのカフェがひしめき合っています。そういえば、オーストラリアのメルボルンにもたくさんのおいしいカフェがあったなぁ・・・。パリよりもカフェの数が多いとか。メルボルンのカフェも、イタリア人移民が多いせいか、コーヒーのクオリティがかなり高いです。

  さて、ザグレブの中心、イリツァ通りに2011年にオープンしたばかりの新しいカフェOranž (住所：Illica 7, Zagreb)。ザグレブ中心のイェラチッチ広場からイリツァ通りを西に3分ほど歩いたところにあります。お店の名前Oranžはフランス語の「オレンジ」と同じ「オランジュ」と発音します。ここのお勧めは何と言ってもケーキ！ヨーロッパに限らず、外国のケーキってちょっと生地が固くて重たい感じなんですが、ここのケーキは生地がしっとり、ふわふわ。日本のケーキに近いかな、という感じです。

　ショーケースには常にチョコレートのケーキや、フルーツのケーキ、チーズケーキやベークケーキなど25種類くらいのケーキが並んでいて、見ているだけで幸せな気分。ケーキのほかに、サンドウィッチ、サラダやパン類などの軽食もオーダーできるようになっています。

  右上の写真はカフェOranžのチョコレートケーキとイチゴのタルト。チョコレートケーキは濃厚なダークチョコレートが効いた上品で大人の味。イチゴのタルトは甘さ控えめのさっぱりとした、さわやかなおいしさでした。コーヒーもなかなかしっかりした味でおいしかったです。

お店のインテリア Interior of the cafe Oranž

  このカフェはインテリアもモダンでおしゃれ。白を基調としているけれど、テーブルなどはナチュラルな木材を使っているので、温かみがあって落ち着く感じ。 所々にお店の名前にもなっている「オレンジ」がアクセントに使われているのもかわいらしい。白い食器でケーキが引き立って見えます。全面窓ガラスなのもあって、開放感があって明るいです。

  気になるケーキのお値段ですが、だいたいケーキ1個平均23Kn (1Kn=14円　2012年2月時点）。コーヒーと紅茶は約14Knくらいです。 近くのVincekのケーキが平均13Knくらいなのでだいぶ高いですが、ザグレブでおいしいケーキを探している方はぜひ試してみてください。


 　カフェでの注文のしかたですが、まずショーケースのところでケーキを注文してからテーブルにつきます。そうするとテーブルまでケーキを持ってきてくれます。また、飲み物はテーブルにメニューがあるので、テーブルに着いた後にウェイターに注文します。注文するときの言い方は：

  Može (ケーキの名前、コーヒー、紅茶など）, molim!

ケーキの名前など発音がよく分からないときは、指をさして「to (ト)」でもOK。この場合、Može to, molilm! 2個以上、注文するときは「i (イ)」で単語をつなげます。英語で言うところの「and」です。ちなみにコーヒーはクロアチア語で「Kava（かヴぁ)」、紅茶は「Čaj（チャイ）」です。また、ケーキを持ち帰りたいときには「Za van. (ザ　ヴァン)」を注文した最後に言えばOKです。

ケーキを選ぶ人たち

Those who loves cafes may find Zagreb fascinating. There are so many good cafes in Zagreb and other Croatian cities.

  My favourite cafe in Zagreb is cafe Oranž (Illica 7, Zagreb), which was open last year 2011 and is quite new. This cafe is located very centre of the Zagreb, only a few minutes walk to the West along the Illica street from the Jelačić square. I really love their cakes! I also like cakes of Vincek, but the cakes of Oranž are more similar to Japanese cakes. I mean, their cakes are not too heavy or too sweet, but very delicate, mild and smooth.

  At the cafe, there are usually about 25 different cakes, such as chocolate torte, fruit torte and baked cakes, on the display showcase. So, I'm sure you will find your favourite one there. For me, just looking at those lovely cakes makes me happy :) There are also some light snacks such as sandwiches, salad and bread.

  The cakes on the first photo shows their chocolate cake and strawberry torte. I really love their chocolate cake, which has very rich dark chocolate taste and elegant and delicate taste. The strawberry torte is very light and not too sweet, so the taste of strawberry is well accentuated. The cafe also makes really good coffee too.

  In addition to their cakes, I also like their modern and stylish interior. Their interior is based on white colour, but all wooden furniture creates a natural and cozy space there. They also use the orange colour, which is also the name of the cafe, as accent.

  Price for a cake on average at the cafe Oranž is about 23kn, and coffee and tea are about 14kn on average. It is relatively expensive when comparing to another popular cake and ice cream shop Vincek, where price for a cake is about 13kn on average. Vincek also offers various cakes and ice creams, which are so much loved by local people in Zagreb. Having a cake and a cup of coffee in the cafe Oranž might be a bit more expensive, but I think it's worth to try :)

  To enjoy a cake at a cafe, firstly, you need to order your favourite cake at the display showcase.  Then, a person who takes your order would tell you to take a seat, so you take whichever table you like and wait for your cake to be brought to you. To order coffee or tea from the menu on the table, you just need to call a waiter. How to order a cake, coffee or tea in Croatian? Well, it's easy!

  Može (name of cake, coffee, tea etc.）, molim!

If you are not sure how to pronounce a name of cake or coffee, then you can point it out and say "to" ("to" of "toy") meaning "it" and make it "Može to, molim! If you want to order more than one, then use "i" ("i" of "issue"), which means "and" in English, and connect them. By the way, coffee in Croatian language is "kava" and tea is "Čaj" (the same pronunciation as Indian chai). If you want to take away cakes, you need to add "Za van." after ordering the cakes. Well, enjoy a lovely time at the cafe!

ザグレブ、トラコシュチャン、プリトヴィッツェ Zagreb, Trakošćan and Plitvice

クロアチアへは名古屋からルフトハンザでフランクフルトまで飛び、そこでクロアチア航空に乗り換えてザグレブ、スプリット、ドゥブロブニクへ行くことができます。今年からかな？フィン・エアーもヘルシンキからザグレブ行が開航するらしいです。

最初のクロアチア旅行はザグレブ2日間→トラコシュチャン城（日帰り）→プリトヴィッツェ→トロギール→スプリット→ストン→ドゥブロブニク→ザグレブという感じに周りました。クロアチア国内での移動手段は車です。クロアチアにはヨーロッパ各国から観光客が押し寄せてくるので、スプリット、ドゥブロブニクと言った有名観光地では駐車スペースを探すのが大変です。

 まずクロアチアの空港に降り立ってあまりの小ささにびっくり。一応首都の空港（旧ユーゴ時代は旧ユーゴのメイン空港だったらしい）なんだけれど、日本の地方空港よりも小さいんじゃぁ、と思うくらい小さいです。クロアチアの人口が愛知県全体の人口よりもちょっと多いくらいなので、仕方ないのかな。余談ですが、観光ピーク時にはこの小さな空港でもものすご～く長い列がチェックインカウンターの前にできるので、かなり余裕を持って空港に到着した方がいいです。

ザグレブはやっぱり東ヨーロッパの地方都市なので、小さいです。1日あれば中心部全部回れると思います。私はザグレブで聖マルコ教会、大聖堂などを観光しました。聖マルコ教会はタイル屋根が美しい教会なんですが、中には入れなかったです。地元の人の話では、この教会の扉が開いているのを見たことがないとか・・・。

Trakošćan Castle

3日目にザグレブから北に70kmのところにあるトラコシュチャン城（http://www.trakoscan.hr/index.asp）に行きました。小高い丘の上に湖を眺めるようにかわいらしいお城が建っています。湖の周りをぐるっと散策できるんですが、お城を眺めながらの散策はとても気持ちがよかったです。お城自体はそんなに大きくはないですが、とてもよく整備されていて素朴なお城です。

4日目にザグレブからプリトヴィッツェを経由してトロギールに向かいました。プリトヴィッツェに向かう途中、小さな町を通りすぎた時に、戦争の跡を見ました。家の壁のいたるところに銃弾の跡が残っていたり、大砲が放置されていたり・・・ここで戦争が確かに行われていたんだと認識した瞬間でした。プリトヴィッツェの近く、Slunjという小さな町の中のRastokeで滝が流れる緑豊かな公園を見つけました。時間がなかったので、上から眺めるだけでしたが、滝の音に癒されました。


プリトヴィッツェは世界遺産にも登録されている国立公園です。不思議なくらい青い湖がとても神秘的。夏だったので、たくさんの観光客がいたけれど、湖の周りをゆっくり散策したり滝の近くで水しぶきを浴びたり、ものすごくリフレッシュできました。ここの滝の不思議な言い伝えがあって、この滝の元で結婚したカップルは離婚しないんだとか・・・クロアチアのパワースポットなのかな?!　冬の雪景色のプリトヴィッツェも息をのむほど美しいらしいです。季節ごとに違う表情を見せるプリトヴィッツェ、またじっくり散策したい場所です。

Rastoke

そしてもう１つうれしい話。プリトヴィッツェには毎年たくさんの観光客が訪れるため、観光客が残していくゴミが問題になっています。そんな中、プリトヴィッツェ観光協会は、日本人観光客が一番と称賛していました。理由はゴミを残さず、自然環境に配慮した観光をしてくれるからだそうです。クロアチア全体で言えるのですが、日本人観光客の評判はものすごくいいです。いままでクロアチアを訪れた人が築き上げた信頼・評判。これを崩さないように責任ある行動をしないと・・・。




So, the first trip to Croatia! I flew with Lufthansa from Nagoya to Zagreb via Frankfurt. I travelled Croatia by car in the following order: Zagreb for 2 days, Trakoscan Castle (Trakošćan Castle), Plitvice, Trogir, Split, Ston, Dubrovnik and returning to Zagreb. In summer, there are so many tourists travelling down to Croatia from all over the Europe by car, so it is very hard to find a parking spot especially in popular destinations such as Split and Dubrovnik.

 Zagreb is quite a small city. You can walk around the city in one day but Zagreb has so many good restaurants and cafes you can't miss. I will write more about restaurants and cafes in Zagreb later.

Plitvice

 The Trakošćan Castle is located about 70km north of Zagreb. You can find more about the castle here: （http://www.trakoscan.hr/index.asp）. The castle stands on a top of a small hill so as to look down a lake. The castle is kept in a good condition and shows the history of the castle and a bit of noble people's life lived there. Even in the middle of summer, there were not so many visitors there, so I enjoyed walking around this small but charming castle. Also, it was very refreshing to walk around the lake.

 On the 4th day, I left Zagreb to Trogir. On the way to Trogir, I stopped at Rastoke and Plitvice. Rastoke is located in Slunj before reaching Plitvice. It is very small village but worth to stop and enjoy the beauty of nature. I didn't have enough time to explore the village and its beautiful park, but I enjoyed sound of the waterfalls and fresh air in a very quiet atmosphere.


 After spending a short period of time in Rastoke, I got to Plitvice Lakes National Park just before lunch. There were a lot of people in Plitvice, but I still could find space and a way to enjoy this breathtakingly beautiful nature. The lakes has a very unique, mysterious bright blue colour, and its water is so clear that you can see the bottom of the lakes. There are several hiking courses in Plitvice and you will easily find a favorable course to enjoy this fantastic and breathtaking nature and lakes in your limited time.
